2020 Kia Optima Fuel Economy


The 2020 Kia Optima in Neptune, NJ, makes the perfect car for long drives due to its new and improved fuel economy specs. The official EPA ratings for the 2020 version are in, and they're much better than anybody could have expected.


There are four variants of the 2020 Kia Optima available across the market – the Kia Optima LX, Optima S, Optima Ex and Ex Premium, and Optima SX.

How Does The Fuel Economy Differ Across Variants?

In the case of the Kia Optima Ex and Ex Premium, they have been equipped with the 1.6 Litre 4-Cylinder engine with a turbocharger that can generate about 178 hp. The EPA estimates for this model are a modest 27 miles per gallon in the city and 37 mpg on the highway, with a combined rating of 32.  The models offer the highest fuel economy amongst all the others. 

When it comes to the Optima LX and Optima S, they both feature a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that can generate a horsepower of 185. The EPA ratings of the LX measure in at 25 miles per gallon in the city and 35 mpg on the high, with a combined score of 30 mpg. The EPA ratings of the S dip slightly, clocking out at 24 miles per gallon in the city, 32 mpg on the highway, and a combined specification of 28.

With the SX variant, it has been equipped with a 2-liter 4-cylinder engine with a turbocharger. This engine generates the highest potential among all the variants, reaching up to a 245-hp output setting comfortably.  However, the fuel economy faces a slight dip in this model. The EPA rankings flatline at 21 miles per gallon in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, with a combined rating of 25. 

The 2020 Kia Optima has also been equipped with an 18.5-gallon fuel tank that keeps the car running for longer.
